Picnic 2010

From GRA

Jump to: navigation, search

We are having a (family) picnic at the Great Seneca Creek State Park on Saturday July 24th. The picnic will begin at around noon, and we will stay at our shelter for the afternoon and evening, until we have to leave the park again at dusk.

We will be caring for some basic things to grill and eat, but you will have to buy a ticket to join. Tickets are priced at $3, but there is a $2 / person entrance fee to Seneca Park on week-ends that you will need to pay directly to Seneca park personnel when entering the grounds. Thus that makes a total of $5 for attending the picnic. You can buy our $3 tickets from members of the GRA or SEBA as explained below.

As usual, please register as early as you can so that we can use the tickets to keep track of how many people are coming, and based on that, how much food we have to buy.

Great Seneca Creek State Park

The park is a few minutes away from NIST. We will be in an open space that can hold 100 people, with grills and tables. There's a ball field and a lake nearby where swimming should be allowed, so don't forget the swimsuits!

Meeting point is Cardinal picnic area.

FYI, here is some information about the shelter we booked: [1]

Food

We plan to have a barbecue, thus hot-dogs and burgers. Of course, people on special diets are welcome, please make yourselves known when registering.

If you wish to bring something: It would be great if everyone could bring either a salad, or a homemade / premade cake, or fruit.

Music

You are encouraged to bring your vuvuzelas.

Carpooling

There is a carpooling topic in the forum. Have a look! If you go there by car and have some empty seats, please consider using the forum to let others know. Carpooling is fun, green, and splits gas costs ! (©Fabien Valoit, 2010 ;-))
