PaintBall 2010

From GRA

Jump to: navigation, search

The paintball event happened again, and everybody had fun! This new place is great, with lots of different fields. We'll probably do it again there! 34 warriors fought that day. You can see the pictures here:

An important note: most of the players were late, this should be improved for next time. I know this was a new place, difficult to locate, especially without GPS. Oh yes, I know. Being the organizer, I knew I had to be there first, and I left very early to achieve this. Unfortunalety, I got so lost I ended up getting there the last one. I apologize about this and I thank the people who took care of dealing with the teams in my place. So, I learned the hard way: on US-15, if you come from north, wait to see the sign "651" to turn right. Sigh.

Also, beware of poison ivy! It can be nasty. Ask Dennis ;)

Another lesson learned: it's convenient to bring water and food (like bananas) to the field. Don't leave it in your car; there is a protected area to leave your stuff during battles. So in between fights, you'll be able to rehydrate yourself. The water given by the staff there can have a funny taste.

Thank you all for coming!!

Fabien, for the GRA

Get ready. The (GR)A-Team is back with one of its most exciting events! So prepare yourself. Do some push-ups, hone your ninja camouflage skills, improve your aim at the shooting range. Train as much as you want, but more important, don't forget to register!

Date and Location

Please note: the date has changed: it is now the 17th.

The date chosen is Saturday July 17th 2010.

The place we used to go in Leesburg has closed. So this year, we'll try another spot: Hogback Mountain Paintball (directions). It's about one hour drive from Nist. Once you reach Hogback Mountain Road (State Road 651), just follow the signs. If you don't have a car, see the carpooling section.

Everybody has to get there by 1 pm sharp!

Then you'll have to sign a waiver and listen to the rules and safety training before starting to play.

It's a good idea to have lunch before coming, we won't have time to eat there.

We'll have the fields for the afternoon, until 5 pm. We'll play several games... the rest will be explained there!

How to Register

Just send an email with your name at this address:

The price is $45/person for the afternoon. You don't need to pay in advance, just do it onsite. The rental package includes a semi auto gun with Co2, a mask, and 500 paintballs. You cannot bring your own balls, you have to buy them there. If you want some extra paintballs, have a look at the prices here.

There is a carpooling topic in the forum. Have a look! If you go there by car and have some empty seats, please consider using the forum to let others know. Carpooling is fun, green, and splits gas costs !
