Leaving NIST

From GRA

This list might not be complete, but can be a helpful guide. So, what to do?

  • Inform you boss or team-leader.
  • Every devision has it's own departure procedures. In most cases your secretary knows the complete procedure. Please inform, so you know what to do. This will be most about your badge, keys, and other NIST property (could) you have.
  • If you want to sell stuff like furniture, car, or just small things... you can place an ad on the GRA classifieds Section.
  • If you have a Comstar bank account, go to a branch and fill in your new address. In case abroad, leave the country name. You can also stop or deactivate your account. Please ask for your possibilities. You can do this any time, the earlier the better I would suggest.
  • Inform the Office of International Affairs (OOIA) if you are from a foreign country. You can do this 2-4 weeks before departure. You can make a call first so they have a GR certificate ready for you if you drop by. Do not forget to leave your new address so they can send you the tax forms for the year you left the USA.
  • Make sure you have a exit consult with a tax adviser at NIST.
  • Leave a goodbye at the GRA Forum.
