Happy hour
From GRA
Happy hours are held at the Dogfish Head Alehouse in Gaithersburg. The venue if located within easy walking distance of work, directly across from the main gates of NIST.
The Bar has a great range of beers and vintage beers and the restaurant has good food. In nice weather the Alehouse has a terrace which is a great place to have a drink and socalise with new friends and colleagues.
Beer and pizza are for half prize (our huge discount) from 5pm till 7 pm!
The GRA gathers at the right (east) side of the building. This can be in or outside (depends on the weather). Extra hint: This is the side were the bar is located.
Happy Hour (a Definition)
(quotation of the #1 3A Method Driving School aka 3-hour drug & alcohol awareness course)
The setting of the happy hour is highly conducive to drinking. This is a social institution that originated in this country. The happy hour is a gathering in a bar, hotel lounge, or home that is promoted by a need for companionship and social pleasure and is usually attended by social, business, or professional groups. All of those drinking experiences, which occur after the day's work has ended and before the evening meal is eaten, are classified as happy hour drinking.
The GRA's main interest is to bring people together during our social events. We STRONGLY discourage driving after drinking. Furthermore, we stimulate an atmosphere were everybody is drinking what the person prefers best. To summarize: Happy Hour does not mean drink alcoholic beverages.
