Checks

Comstar checking accountholders are now eligible to receive standard checks free of charge for their accounts. Specialty checks will still be available at a nominal charge. Checks can also be reordered online at http://www.comstarfcu.org, by clicking on Services, or through Personal Credit Union.

Debit Card

Be aware: if you are using the Debit Card AND your balance is below zero, you pay $30.00 dollar for each transaction (whatever the amount of the transaction is). However, there is an Overdraft Protection, which is a loan that automatically starts when your checkings account goes below zero. You have to pay the amount manually back and this can be done the same day online (without any delays like the credit card has).

Visa Credit Card

Since 11/1/05, the Comstar Visa card has no annual fee.

To apply for a Visa Card you must have your Social Security Number. Then you just have to deliver the Visa application form (obtainable at Comstar), your Social Security Card and your NIST-contract ("FOREIGN GUEST RESEARCHER AGREEMENT"-form) at Comstar and after approximately 12 days you will get your brand-new Visa Card.

For every dollar you charge with your Comstar credit card, you earn a point. Your points are then redeemable for a valuable award. The more points you save, the greater your reward. You can take an award home for as few as 2,500 points, or save your points towards a higher-level award.
